Overview

eUICC (embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card) technology is poised to transform cellular connectivity for enterprises and MNOs alike. With conventional SIM cards, if a customer wants to change network operator, they need to swap the physical SIM inside their device. The development of eUICC enabled SIMs means that enterprises can remotely provision SIM profiles over the air, without having to change the physical SIM card. For MNOs, eUICC represents an easy point of entry into the next wave of net new, high-ARPU IoT connectivity revenue.

Stream’s eUICC enabled SIMs operate throughout multiple countries and multiple regions, support multiple subscriptions and can be reprogrammed remotely using our award-winning IoT-X connectivity management platform. eUICC opens the door to a range of use cases that cannot be supported by conventional SIMs and offer exciting opportunities to enterprises and MNOs.

What is eUICC?

eUICC provides the same functionality as conventional SIMs, plus they allow the device user to wirelessly provision SIM profiles, over the air when required. This represents a significant change in the way that connectivity is managed, since the profile that is active on the SIM can be provisioned without having physical access to the device.

By decoupling the service a SIM provides from the physical hardware, eUICC enabled SIMs deliver a much greater level of flexibility to network operators and enterprises.

IoT-X allows any MNO to easily integrate into a global ecosystem of network partners and share in the connections and data traffic that will be generated in their specific country on their network by large enterprise clients headquartered in locations across the globe. Integration can be achieved efficiently, quickly and with minimal levels of cost.

MNO partners can choose to utilise IoT-X to develop and manage IoT connections generated from their own in-country base on their own network. MNOs can also offer eUICC service options, alongside the more traditional in-country overseas network options, to their own customer base thereby enabling export opportunities. Crucially, the MNO retains complete control of the contractual relationship with the end customer.
