Located in the heart of Dublin, by the River Liffey, the Internet of Things World Europe 2016 conference was certainly an event to remember.
IoT enthusiasts from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from start-ups to global corporations, shared the stage and exhibition floor, showcasing their solutions and sharing their knowledge.
It has been a tremendous year for Stream and Internet of Things World Europe 2016 was the perfect opportunity for us to share our achievements with associates in the IoT industry. Some of Stream's highlights from 2016 include the launch of our LoRaWAN™ network server, eSIM integration and the globalisation of IoT-X.
Engaging with industry colleagues provided me with the chance to reflect on the importance of "solution sets" and the significance that interoperability between products plays when it comes to providing end-users with a truly out-of-the-box experience.
One of the hot topics at this year's conference was, which technology will be the "winner" between LoRa®, Sigfox and NB-IoT? In my view, these technologies will co-exist with one another and each will provide the best fit for specific use cases. Exhibitors and attendees appreciated that LoRa® offers something many other low-power wide-area network technologies do not, namely that it can be deployed by an enterprise wherever, however and whenever they want.
To echo my words from the event, Stream Technologies will continue to ensure that our products and services are fully future proof. This is borne out by our intention to integrate NB-IoT when it hits the market, allowing enterprises to access 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE, satellite, LoRa® and NB-IoT connectivity from the IoT-X connectivity management platform.
